Porcelain Veneers
If you are discontent with your teethโs shape, size, or look, composite bonding or porcelain veneers could be just the thing to smile about.
How are they fitted?
Porcelain Veneers are built to order for each particular case. Porcelain Dental Veneers are utilised to overlay the toothโs exterior surface. They are made by preparing the surface of the tooth and imprints or scans will be taken. These imprints or scans will be sent to the dental lab who makes custom made thin porcelain veneers which can be cemented to the toothโs exterior surface to give the desired look.
Porcelain veneers are very sturdy and long-lasting if you observe our aftercare instructions. In addition, porcelain veneers offer a remarkably natural appearance and are easy to maintain.
Porcelain veneers are exceedingly thin. They are also incredibly resistant to discolouration from coffee, tea, and red wine etc compared to composite veneers.
What is a dental implant? +
Dental implants restore lost teeth while also reassuring that they will not come loose or fall off when chewing hard foods. In addition, implants have the appearance and feel of natural teeth, are incredibly sturdy, and will last for countless years if proper dental care is followed.
A dental implant is a surgical device that functions as an artificial tooth. It is typically composed of titanium and is implanted into the jawbone. After that, it is allowed to integrate with the bone over a few months. The missing tooth is subsequently replaced with a crown or bridge. Multiple implants can firmly keep a denture in place and offer you the freedom to eat anything you want without fear of their falling out. Patients must have healthy gums and sufficient jaw bone to sustain the implants.
What is the procedure for placing dental implants? +
There are various steps to the technique. First, the implant is inserted into the jaw bone and allowed to recover for 3-6 months. Then, the implant fuses with the surrounding bone tissue throughout the period, creating a solid foundation for the artificial tooth.
Once the jaw has healed, an impression of the mouth is collected and forwarded to a dental specialist. Then, the specialist determines the exact size and shape of the replacement tooth. Next, the specialist will make a custom replacement tooth (crown or bridge) that will blend in with the surrounding teeth.
When the replacement tooth is ready, it will be tested in place, and minor changes will ensure that you can bite easily. Then, when you and our dentist are satisfied, the replacement tooth is fixed in place.
How should I look after my implant? +
After implants have been placed, maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing gum disease is essential to the success and longevity of the implant. Our dentist or dental hygienist will be able to provide an appropriate home care regimen to support proper oral hygiene.
Is it possible to have dental implants for the rest of your life? +
Research has indicated that after a dental implant has integrated into the jaw bone, it has a more than 90% survival probability after 15 years. Nevertheless, studies have proven that this depends on regular cleaning and frequent inspection and maintenance with a dental expert.
Can implants be used to replace lost teeth indefinitely? +
Patients must have healthy gums and adequate jaw bone to undergo the procedure.
Is the procedure painful? +
A local anaesthetic and, in rare cases, sedation may be utilised when inserting the implant into the jaw. You will not experience pain during the procedure; however, you may experience some soreness over the next week. This is mainly due to sutures and the natural healing process.
How long does it take to complete treatment? +
Treatment times might vary because each case is different. Usually, you must wait 3-6 months after the implant is placed for the jaw to recover. Following the wound has healed, an imprint of the mouth is made and provided to a dental technician, who will create a customised replacement tooth in the desired size, shape, and colour.
Can I remove the replacement teeth once they’ve been attached to the implants? +
As a rule, dentists should be the only specialists who should remove most artificial teeth affixed to implants. Of course, the lone exception to this rule is complete dentures.
Is it hard to clean the teeth after implants? +
Cleaning the implanted teeth should be no more onerous than cleaning your natural teeth. There might be some spots that are more difficult to access however our dentists will teach you other cleaning procedures for such areas. Routine visits to the dental hygienist are also advised, although our dentist will counsel you on this. Following the placement of implants, it is critical to maintaining good dental hygiene. This will prevent gum disease and extend the success and longevity of the implant.
Is it necessary for me to have an implant for each missing tooth? +
If you replace a single tooth, a single implant can be utilised. Nevertheless, because each implant can typically handle two teeth, five or six implants are often used to replace all teeth in a single jaw bone. Our dentist will be able to assess your specific needs and provide additional guidance.
What if the implant does not fuse with the bone? +
This is a highly unusual scenario. If the implant comes loose during or shortly after the recovery phase, it can be simply taken out, and the patient will heal normally. Another implant can be placed there when the jaw bone has recovered completely.
