How are missing teeth supplanted?
This is determined by the number of missing teeth and their location in the mouth. In addition, the identification is influenced by the health of the other teeth and the gums and surrounding supporting structures. There are different techniques for reconstructing missing teeth. The first technique is to use a detachable fake tooth or teeth – known as a partial denture. The second method employs a fixed bridge to implants.
Dentures can enhance confidence in your smile and make chewing and communicating more comfortable. They are removable replacements for missing teeth that can be created as partial dentures, which substitute a couple of missing teeth, or complete dentures, which replace an entire row of teeth.
Dentures are typically composed of an acrylic or metal foundation – a form of plastic fitted with fake teeth and designed to appear as lifelike as possible
What are partial dentures? +
Partial dentures are a plate with several artificial teeth upon them. It can be entirely plastic or a combination of metal and plastic. Clips (clasps) may be used on either type to keep the denture in place.
A few of these clips may be visible when you grin or open your mouth, based on the location they have been affixed on.
How are dentures created and made to fit? +
Over a series of sessions, an imprint and accurate mouth specifications are obtained and handed over to a dental technician, who will create customised dentures to the precise shape and size. Then the dentist will fit the denture in your mouth and makes sure it fits well, looks aesthetically pleasing, you can bite and eat comfortably with it.
Why must I get my missing teeth replaced? +
One factor is your facial aesthetics. Another factor is that the space left by a missing tooth might result in increased strain on the adjacent teeth.
Since the teeth close to the gap might lean into the gap and change how the upper and lower teeth bite around each other, a gap can also indicate that your “bite” is compromised. This might result in food becoming jammed into the space, causing rotting and periodontal diseases. Replacing missing teeth can therefore improve your eating habits.
How should I care for my denture? +
Brush, soak, brush is the cardinal rule. First, cleanse your dentures in a basin of water as a habit. Brush your dentures ahead of immersing them to eliminate any food particles. You can use a denture-cleaning agent that can aid in the cleanup of difficult stains and will keep your denture looking cleaner. Next, clean the dentures just like you would your natural teeth, mindful not to brush too forcefully as this could leave surface scratches. Ensure to cleanse all denture surfaces, particularly the surface that comes into touch with the gums.
Must I remove my denture before bedtime? +
Dentists advise that you remove your dentures at night to allow your mouth to relax. In addition, it is recommended to keep your dentures in water after cleaning them to avoid warping or breaking.
Will my dentures fall off when I’m eating? +
Yes, can happen on occasion. It depends on several factors such as the amount of bone present and the presence of supporting teeth. Implants can be employed to hold dentures in position in some circumstances.

Although originally very nervous and self conscious all the staff have been amazing and my dentist Dr Hema Rajah could not have been more patient and caring. After just a few months of Invisalign treatment my teeth already look so much better and I can’t wait to see the finished article. Little things make such a difference, a warm welcome when you arrive, a genuine catch up, plenty of parking, and appointments being always on time are just a few of the things that make this practice exceptional.
