There are various steps to the technique. First, the implant is inserted into the jaw bone and allowed to recover for 3-6 months. Then, the implant fuses with the surrounding bone tissue throughout the period, creating a solid foundation for the artificial tooth.

Once the jaw has healed, an impression or scan of the mouth is collected and then the specialist determines the exact size and shape of the replacement tooth. Next, the specialist will send that impression or scan to the dental lab to make a custom replacement tooth (crown or bridge) that will blend in with the surrounding teeth.

When the replacement tooth is ready, it will be tested in place, and may make minor changes to ensure that you can bite easily. Then, when you and our dentist are satisfied, the replacement tooth is fixed in place.

After implants have been placed, maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing gum disease is essential to the success and longevity of the implant. Our dentist or dental hygienist will be able to provide an appropriate home care regimen to support proper oral hygiene.

Research has indicated that after a dental implant has integrated into the jaw bone, it has a more than 90% survival probability after 15 years. Nevertheless, studies have proven that this depends on regular cleaning and frequent inspection and maintenance with a dental expert.

Patients must have healthy gums and adequate jaw bone to undergo the procedure.

A local anaesthetic and, in rare cases, sedation may be utilised when inserting the implant into the jaw. You will not experience pain during the procedure; however, you may experience some soreness over the next week. This is mainly due to sutures and the natural healing process.

Treatment times might vary because each case is different. Usually, you must wait 3-6 months after the implant is placed for the jaw bone to heal and recover. Following the wound has healed, an imprint of the mouth is made and provided to a dental technician, who will create a customised replacement tooth in the desired size, shape, and colour.

As a rule, dentists should be the only person who should remove most artificial teeth affixed to implants. Of course, the lone exception to this rule is complete dentures.

Cleaning the implanted teeth should be no more onerous than cleaning your natural teeth. There might be some spots that are more difficult to access however our dentists will teach you other cleaning procedures for such areas. Routine visits to the dental hygienist are also advised, although our dentist will counsel you on this. Following the placement of implants, it is critical to maintaining good dental hygiene. This will prevent gum disease and extend the success and longevity of the implant.

If you replace a single tooth, a single implant can be utilised. Nevertheless, it is not the case with implants replacing multiple teeth, five or six implants are often used to replace all teeth in a single jaw bone. This is a very unusual scenario. If the implant comes loose during or shortly after the recovery phase, it can be simply taken out, and the patient will heal normally. In most cases, another implant can be placed there when the jaw bone has recovered completely.
